Naik Hemanta Saikia hailed from Nahazar village in the Dibrugarh district of Assam. He joined the army after completing his school education and was inducted into the 15th Battalion of the Assam Regiment.
Operation Meghdoot : 04 March 1998
During March 1998, Naik Hemanta Saikia was serving with 15 Assam Battalion that in the Siachen Glacier, the highest battlefield in the world. during the operation, he was martyred on 04 Mar 1998.
Naik Hemanta Saikia is survived by his mother Smt Madhuri Sikia.
