Sepoy Gauri Das Singha hailed from Unamgaon village in the Karimgari district of Assam. He joined the army after completing his school education and was inducted into the 3rd Battalion of the Assam Regiment. 

Indo - Pak War : Dec 1971

During Dec 1971, Sepoy Gauri Das Singha was serving with 3 Assam Battalion that was deployed in Punjab in the western front. In one of the operations during the war, he was martyred on 12 Dec 1971.
