Sepoy Romen Changmai

Sepoy Romen Changmai hailed from Tamuli Gaon village in the Jorhat district of Assam. After completing his school education, he joined the Indian Army and was inducted into the 10th Battalion of the Assam Regiment—a unit renowned for its courage, discipline, and exemplary service to the nation.

 

Counter Insurgency operation : 22 February 1992

 

In February 1992, Sepoy Romen Changmai was serving with the 10th Battalion of the Assam Regiment. On 22 February, during a critical operation, he displayed exceptional bravery in the line of duty. In the course of the operation, he made the ultimate sacrifice, laying down his life in service of the nation.

 

He is survived by his mother, Smt. Bhugeswari Changmai.
