Shamay and I were closest of friends at St Georges Agra. We were so close that he was not welcome at my home and I was unwelcome in his, which we didn’t care for. His dad a Colonal then Hoshiyar Singh is a decorated para soldier and last I met him was in Mathura Cantt. While he left for the Army I moved on to engineering and ended up takin 2 very different paths and the last time he visited my home at Agra was immediately after his marriage and met my mom as I was away in Delhi. What a fine young buddy he was. I came to know about this misfortune in the same India Today article Ranjan has shared above and later his sister relayed the incident through a common friend. There are too many Stories of that time that are very personal but he was always driven, held the high moral attitude and was gone too soon. I believe he had a child that was born after the fact.
