2018 at 11:45 amWe called him Kurur as Arun shankar was too long for school buddies to quickly call out. In addition to being batchmates, classmates and schoolmates, we were also statemates. Two guys from Kerala who used to exchange notes on Kerala food, the only other guy in class who used to bring iddlies in his lunch box resulting in both our lunch boxes being ransacked well before lunch time.
He was talented. We also acted in a school play. He also played the sitar if I remember this right. Bu that was not what he was made for. So he made it straight to the NDA when many others went their own ways. Tough guy who probably was rearing to get into the battle right away.
Today 20th July 2018 is his 56th birthday. I did not get to meet him after we left school, for he made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland well before we the rest could even settle down in our lives.
We salute you and your supreme sacrifice for us. We live in peace because of you and your likes. Be happy wherever you are Kurur and lets catch up again.
Jai Hind
