Captain Ayush Yadav hailed from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh and was born on 24 August 1991. He was the son of Shri Arun Kant Yadav, a UP Police Inspector, and Smt. Sarla Yadav shared a close bond with his elder sister, Rupal. Raised in a disciplined and service-oriented environment, he imbibed values of integrity, courage, and duty from an early age. Inspired by his father’s uniform and a deep sense of patriotism, Capt Ayush nurtured a strong desire to serve in the Armed Forces since childhood. He completed his schooling at St. Joseph’s School, Kanpur, where he was known for his sincerity, athletic ability, and leadership qualities. Focused on his goal of joining the Army, he worked diligently and eventually cleared the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination. He went on to join the prestigious 134th Course at the Indian Military Academy on 30 December 2012, taking a decisive step toward fulfilling his lifelong dream. At the young age of 22, Capt Ayush was commissioned into 310 Field Regiment of the Regiment of Artillery, proudly becoming a Gunner. He embraced the demanding life of a young officer with enthusiasm and dedication, quickly establishing himself as a dependable and professional leader.
In 2017, he was serving with 310 Field Regiment, which was deployed in the challenging Kupwara sector of Jammu & Kashmir—an area known for its operational sensitivity and difficult terrain. In this demanding environment, Capt Ayush carried out his responsibilities with maturity beyond his years, earning the admiration of his seniors and the affection of the soldiers under his command. Apart from his professional excellence, Capt Ayush was also a keen sportsman. A talented boxer during his school days, he had won several competitions, reflecting his determination, resilience, and fighting spirit—qualities that later defined him as an officer. Cheerful, approachable, and committed to the welfare of his men, he inspired confidence wherever he served. A dedicated soldier and a fine leader, Capt Ayush Yadav embodied the finest traditions of the Indian Army through his character, courage, and unwavering devotion to duty.
