After serving for few years, he got married to Ms Lakshmi in the year 2006 and the couple had two kids Varshitha and Parikshith.

 Operation Meghdoot: June 2013

During 2013, Havildar Yogananda’s unit was deployed in the Siachen glacier sector in J & K.  It is one of the most treacherous parts of the valley and remains inaccessible during winter, the sector is heavily militarized and soldiers are stationed on the mountaintop post to guard the Line Of Control and prevent infiltration of militants.

On  9th June 2013, the Glacier sector in the mountainous northern region of the Kashmir valley received heavy snowfall resulting in avalanches in the area. Hav Yogananda was part of a patrol team which was carrying out the assigned task in the rugged and inhospitable terrain. Hav Yogananda while climbing the mountain to issue the food to his team felt uneasy to breathe and collapsed. He was taken to the hospital but could not be saved from the biggest enemy at Siachen – the weather. Hav Yogananda was a brave and dedicated soldier who laid down his life in the line of his duty.

Hav Yogananda C is survived by his wife Smt Lakshmi, daughter Varshitha and son Parikshith.
