The AOR (Area Of Responsibility) of his unit was affected by terrorist activities and thus the unit troops had to maintain a high state of alert and often undertake operations against the terrorists. On 15th Sep 1993, the unit received information. The unit decided to launch an operation to nab the terrorists. Sep Bajirao was made part of the team that was assigned the task of undertaking that opertaion. As planned Sep Bajirao and his comrades reached the suspected area in Narbal village and launched a search & cordon operation.

As the search operation was underway Sep Bajirao saw one terrorist hiding in a nearby farm and soon he started running towards a house. Sep Bajirao immediately swung into action and fired at the terrorist injuring him. The terrorist though injured continued firing at Sep Bajirao after entering the house from a window. Sep Bajirao showing great courage entered the house to eliminate the terrorist. However, Sep Bajirao received multiple gunshots in his chest and stomach during the ongoing gun battle. But despite being seriously injured he continued to engage the terrorist till his fellow soldiers reached the place. In the ensuing gun battle, all the terrorists were eliminated and the huge amount of weapons & ammunition were recovered from the house. However, Sep Bajirao succumbed to his injuries and was martyred. Sep Bajirao was a gallant soldier who laid down his life at the age of 24 years in the service of the nation.
