Sep Bodke Shrikant Shrikrushna hailed from Yadzire village in Nasik district of Maharashtra. Son of Shri Shrikrushna Nathuji Bodke and Smt Kisnabai Sep Bodke was born on 12th Feb 1983. After completing his schooling he joined the army on 6th Mar 2000 at the age of 17 years. he was recruited into 5 MLI of the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, ah an infantry regiment with a rich history of gallantry and battle honours.
After completing his training, Sep Bodke got posted to his parent unit 5 MLI. However soon Sep Bodke was deputed to serve with 17 RR Bn deployed in the Kashmir valley for counter-insurgency operations.
Op Parakram: 24 Sep 2002
During Sep 2002, Sep Bodke was serving with 17 RR deployed in the Doda district of J&K. The unit’s AOR (Area Of Responsibility) fell in the region that was seriously affected by militant activities. Consequently, the unit troops were required to maintain a very high state of alert at all times. The unit also launched the regular patrols to monitor any suspicious activity and sanitize the area. On 24th Sep 2002, Sep Bodke was part of one such patrol in Nogaum village in Doda district. As the patrol party was moving on its planned path, It came under attack by the militants.
In the following gun battle, Sep Bodke got seriously injured in his head. He later succumbed to his injuries and was martyred. Sep Bodke was a brave soldier who laid down at the age of 19 years in the line of his duty.
Sep Bodke Shrikant Shrikrushna is survived by his father Shri Shrikrushna Nathuji Bodke and mother Smt Kisnabai Sep Bodke.
