Sepoy Upananda Das

Sepoy Upananda Das hailed from Pub Udali village in Assam’s Nagaon district. After completing his school education, he joined the Indian Army and was inducted into the 15th Battalion of the Assam Regiment, a unit known for its valour, discipline, and distinguished service to the nation.

Sepoy Upananda Das was serving with the 15th Battalion of the Assam Regiment in the Ganderbal region of Jammu & Kashmir in May 1991. On 05 May 1991, during a counter-insurgency operation under Operation Pawan, he displayed exceptional courage in the line of duty and made the supreme sacrifice, attaining martyrdom in service of the nation.

 

He is survived by his father, Shri Dharmananda Das.
