Sepoy Vikram Singh was born on March 15, 1983, in Rewari, Haryana, into a family that valued discipline, duty, and service to the nation. These principles shaped his character from an early age, fostering in him a strong desire to serve his country. At the young age of 19, driven by a passion for patriotism, he joined the Indian Army in 2002. He was inducted into the 17th Battalion of the Rajput Regiment, an infantry unit celebrated for its fearless warriors and illustrious history of bravery and valour. During his tenure with the Rajput Regiment, Sepoy Vikram Singh distinguished himself through his dedication, commitment, and exceptional performance. He embodied the highest ideals of a soldier—discipline, integrity, and courage. His peers and superiors admired his ability to face challenges head-on and his steadfast resolve in fulfilling his duties, no matter how demanding.
Amidst the rigours of military service, Sepoy Vikram Singh also found joy and fulfillment in his personal life. He married Ms. Sushila, and together they built a life grounded in love and mutual support. The couple was blessed with a son, Abhishek, who became the light of their lives. Known for his gentle nature and soft-spoken demeanor, Sepoy Vikram Singh was loved not only by his family but also by his colleagues. After years of exemplary service with his parent unit, Sepoy Vikram Singh was deputed to the 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) Battalion in December 2012. The 44 RR Battalion operated under the Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) Victor Force, which came under the operational control of the XV Corps (Chinar Corps), responsible for military operations in the Kashmir Valley. This deployment placed him in the heart of one of the most challenging and volatile regions of the country.
The Rashtriya Rifles are a specialized counterinsurgency force tasked with tackling militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir. In this perilous environment, Sepoy Vikram Singh’s courage and professionalism shone brightly. He participated in numerous high-risk operations, displaying exceptional bravery and a deep sense of duty.
