Squadron Leader Kachibhotla Ramachandra Murthy was An Indian Air Force pilot was born in the family of KSR Murthy a retired Indian Air Force official and Satyakala in Hyderabad.His brother Srinivas is also working in the Air Force and his parents were settled in Bommuru on the outskirts of Rajahmundry. He was married with Mamata and they were stayed in Bangalore. Squadron Ldr K R Murthy, the aircraft, belonges to the ASTE Unit.

On Wednesday that was on 26th October 2005 ,around 12.45 in afternoon a MiG-21 fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) had took off from Bangalore’s HAL airport. Sq Leader K R Murthy, a test trainee pilot was leading the plane. By the time there was tragic incident happened in loss of thrust hardly five minutes after getting airborne and the aircraft reportedly drifted to south. It is presumed that strong winds from the north could have drifted and MiG-21 was crashed after a take-off and Murthy was thrown  into the flames but, somehow he managed to eject with the help of parachute that landed on a fireball triggered by the crash of the fighter plane. Immediately he was shifted to Command Hospital, where he succumbed to internal injuries and Squadron Ldr K R Murthy was died in the hospital.

Squadron Leader Kachibhotla Ramachandra Murthy was survived by his wife Mamata.
