Sepoy Birdha Ram was born on 24th May in Jhunjuhunu, Rajasthan. He was son of Mr Bakhtawar.Birdha ram was one of the crew member of the recoilless gun detachment of a battalion of rajput regiment which had established a road block behind the enemy defences area in the eastern sector.
On 15th December 1971, the enemy made attempts to dislodge the battalion and brought Machine Gun and mortar on the area in which the recoilless gun was located. A direct hit towards the recoilless gun destroyed the position wounding the No 2 detachment. Sepoy ram took over the gun without any regards to his personal safety moved forward and he destroyed the medium machine gun post. After this while he was moving towards another position he was hit into his chest and he was killed in the spot.
In this action Sepoy Birdha Ram displayed gallantry courage and devotion towards his work.
The Citation of the Vir Chakra reads:
